New Flagship Smartphones & Apples Disappointing Efforts

I’ve been using an iPhone 7, which is now about to be 4 generations old, for about the past 2 and a half years now and I am seriously in the need for an upgrade. As a Media Production Major who is also a Social Media Manager for the HPU Toccatatones and a Multi-Media Assistant for HPU’s Chapel and Religious Life Office, the need to be able to use my phone to take a photo or video at a moments notice is key to my positions. Yet the camera is just not up to par with what I should be using.

So as you may be guessing, yeah, I am eagerly paying attention to the next wave of flagship devices that are soon to be hitting the shelves. Earlier this month Samsung released their newest flagship, the Galaxy Note 10+, and my is it a beauty, yet, as someone who is deeply roped into the Apple ecosystem, official news on the release of the iPhone XI (or 11, who really knows anymore) is what I am really in need of. Sadly, for now all we have are rumors and reports such as this article from cnet.

The next iPhone, if rumors are true, may quickly become infamous for being one of the worst upgrades from apple. Sure it may have a better camera, but it is still not up to par with Samsung’s Galaxy phones or Googles Pixel devices. Sure the processor may be better and it’ll run the next version of iOS (iOS 13), but there are still so many features missing that will supposedly come with the 2020 iPhone upgrades.

But for content creators such as me and average consumers alike, for Apple to make a move such as this is quite unsettling. Many of us either love our iPhones for the OS, or for the entire Apple ecosystem, or even just for the blue bubbles that come with iMessage. Apple may get leapfrogged this fall, which may shift the power dynamics in the smart technology world for future years to come and our beloved iPhones may be no more.
